About
In 1967, nine men formed the North Crosslake Fire Department. These nine charter members built the first Crosslake fire hall. The 2-stall block building housed a 1953 tanker and a new 1967 pumper. The original fire hall was located in the building that is now called the Old Fire Hall. Over the years, North Crosslake and Crosslake became one city. The Department was then renamed the Crosslake Fire Department.
Today the fire hall is located in the Crosslake Emergency Services Center. The North Ambulance station and the Fire Department all share the facility.
The paid on call Fire Department has evolved significantly since those early days. There are currently 27 active members. Twenty-four of those members are medically trained as First Responders.
The Fire Department has an ISO rating of 6. This rating can save customers, within a 5-mile radius of the fire hall, money on their home owner’s insurance.
Community
In August the Fire Department holds a one day pig roast event. The event is getting bigger every year! The firefighters also host a pancake breakfast on Winterfest weekend.
The department is proud to serve the citizens of Crosslake. Crosslake also serves the people of surrounding communities through a mutual aid agreement via our involvement in the Cuyuna Range Fire Chiefs Association.
