Fishing Opener Library Event

FISHING OPENER EVENTS

To help celebrate fishing opener, visit the library for special events on Friday, May 9th. Join local artist Sonja Larsen for one of two sessions where she will demonstrate and then teach participants how to use the Japanese fish printing technique called gyotaku. Gyotaku was used by Japanese fishermen before cameras were available to record their catch. There is no cost for the event and you will leave with a lovely souvenir.  Participation is limited to 10 people per session so sign up in the library today.  Sessions will start at 1 p.m. and again at 2 p.m. This is open to people 14+.

Fish printing for everyone: from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. all ages can come and do fish printing. Stop in... no sign up required.

Thanks to the Kitchigami Regional Library System for their help in sponsoring and organizing these events. This free Legacy Program is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008, which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s arts and cultural heritage.

Check out our collection on our online catalog and remember, if we don't have what you need, use Kitchigami's Interlibrary Loan Services. If it's ebooks you're looking for, check out Ebooks Minnesota for fiction and nonfiction books for all ages.

Please call us at 218-692-7323 or email clal@cityofcrosslake.org for more information.

READ N PLAY
Come and join us for Read N Play every Monday from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. Story time begins in the library followed by free play in the gym where equipment such as a crawling tunnel, balancing stones, child-sized basketball hoops, jump ropes and more are available.

TRAVEL BOOK DONATIONS NEEDED
Our travel books and guides, although popular, are terribly outdated. If you have any guides that you can part with that are no older than five years, please consider donating them to the library so others in the community can share. We've had several donations, so thank you. We can use more, however.

BOOK DONATIONS

While we will continue to accept donations over the fall and winter, we ask that you donate only books that are relatively new and in excellent shape. We cannot store older titles or books that do not meet our donation policy. When preparing items for donation, please read the Donation Policy below before you bring your donations in.  Again, storage space is limited so make sure your books meet our requirements.  We will accept donations during library hours of operation only
*Please do not put donated items in the book drops.  They are meant for returning current collection items only.  Thank you.

PUZZLED FOR INSIDE ACTIVITIES?

Puzzles are a great cold or rainy day activity.  The library is excited to offer adult puzzles for checkout. Stop by and check out our selection.
